At brown brothers cellar door you can taste nearly forty different wines, including many you won't find anywhere else in the country. The gardens at the winery are beautiful. Brown brothers host three key events at the winery every year: easter festival for friends and families; a winter celebration to coincide with the long weekend in june; and their wine and food festival in november which is an absolute must if you love great food and wine. Each dish is served with a glass of wine that is carefully matched so that the flavours of the food and wine are enhanced. The epicurean centre, is a place where you can experience, located next to the cellar door, discover and taste brown brothers' unique range of wines with food. Brown brothers is constantly developing new styles and varieties and to trial them, it releases them at the cellar door first. Winery tours are offered on weekends and a function service is available for groups that are looking for something a bit more special such as wine education or private lunches and dinners.

The business was founded in 1889 by John Francis Brown who, at the age of 18, established a vineyard at Milawa in northeast Victoria where the Brown Brothers Winery is today. It was below the guidance of his son, John Charles Brown, that Brown Brothers established its reputation as a producer accommodating to experiment with innovative grape varieties. The Brown Brothers vineyards in Victoria and Tasmania are as different as the wines and wine styles. With vineyards located in a diverse range of climatic regions in Victoria and Tasmania and a kindergarten winery specifically designed for innovation, you can be sure there’s wine for you in the Brown Brothers family of wines. In 1885 John Francis talked his father into a partnership they planted 10 acres. John Francis had no experience in wine making. In 1898 he built a fresh winery and cellar. Alongside of his business interests John Francis also had a family of his own. In the early years she took no part in running the vineyard. Peter was the second son of John Charles and Patricia Brown. Ross is the third son of John Charles and Patricia Brown. Family members are encouraged to bring in outside skills and work elsewhere for the minimum four years, it was therefore very exciting for him when his eldest daughter Katherine, behind fulfilling these expectations, joined the family business in 2010 and Caroline joined the business in 2012. Cynthia joined Brown Brothers at the beginning of 1996, active in the winery during vintage, gaining firsthand experience in the wine making process. Two years later, Cynthia was appointed to the position of Direct Marketing Manager, which included the responsibility for the development and management of the public facilities at Milawa. Eliza started as the Cellar Door Manager and then as Sales and Marketing Manager. It was then that she decided to condense on branding only for the family businesses including looking after their export development interests. Katherine joined Brown Brothers in time for the 2009 vintage where she gained experience as a cellar hand prior transient to Bordeaux and Champagne later in the identical year. She is currently occupied as Assistant Winemaker for the 2015 Vintage. At Brown Brothers Joel is responsible for the production and management of wines from vineyard through to bottle, ensuring compliance with company specifications and wine quality expectations. After two years she was appointed winemaker but a desire to work with of the industry’s maximum innovative wine varietals brought her to Brown Brothers in 2005. Initially a 3month position, at the completion of vintage the company decided to exaggerate its wine making team and the position was made permanent.
